Mixed fortunes for Egremont ABC this week as they travelled to Chorley to box on the Blackrod Show against three home boxers.

Leon Ryan was up first giving away height and reach to John Brian Ireland, Leon boxed fantastic and to the letter of instruction and took a unanimous points decision.

Leon’s boxing again on March 31 in Bolton looking to avenge a loss from December last year.

Next up was Nathan Mcadam of Cockermouth, having his first contest for the club, up against Matty Smalley the bout started off fast with both boxers trying to be the first off the mark Nathan counted well with rolls and hooks.

Smalley boxed better in the 2nd using his height and reach which all left it up to the 3rd round which was very close to the home boxer taking unanimous points to win.

His clubmate Ethan Scowcroft who is on the opposite end of his boxing journey stepped into the ring for the first time in 6 years in his 49th contest.

Ethan was giving away weight and height to Alex Conlon. In the first round, Alex came out strong trying to show his will holding centre ring Ethan didn’t get going to the last half of the round and started putting his punches together better.

The second saw Ethan start faster on his jab landing straight back hands to head and body but the physical size difference was there to see with Conlan. The 3rd round was the same as Ethan came on in the latter half of the round losing a points decision,

An Egremont ABC spokesperson said: "We are all proud of our boxers win or lose and look for to them boxing again soon."
