A FASHION outlet in Carlisle has announced that it will be closing as of March 18.

Joules have displayed a message on their English Street shopfront announcing the closure as well as thanking customers for their support over the years.

The nearest Joules store is now located in Keswick.

A spokesperson from Joules said: “We’re sorry that our Joules Carlisle store will be closing from Saturday March 18.

“We regularly review our store estate to make sure we’re responding to how our customers want to shop with us, both in-store and online. Our customers can still visit Joules.com, or shop with us at surrounding stores in Keswick or Ambleside.”

Last year the fashion retailer, which was founded in 1989 by Tom Joule, was facing administration.

In December however, NEXT plc announced that it had partnered with Tom Joule to acquire out of administration the majority of the assets of Joules via a newly formed company (Harborough Hare Ltd) for £34m, settled in cash.

Tom Joule said: "After three years away from the operational side, I'm truly looking forward to inspiring teams with clear direction to excite and recapture the imagination of the customer again.

“Our customers have always trusted us to lead, not follow, with products that reflect their lifestyle. It's important that we live up to the high standards they desire in design, quality and, with NEXT's Total Platform delivery and customer support proposition, the service they expect.

“I'm so pleased that we have been able to strike a deal that protects the future of the company for all its loyal customers, its employees and also for the town of Market Harborough, which have been so central to Joules' success,” he said.
