THE family-run business Budget Blinds, based at Parkside in Cleator Moor, has been operating around Cumbria for almost three and a half decades and has managed to build up a strong reputation amongst its large customer base over the years.

The company is run by a couple, Anne and Keith Robinson, and nowadays they operate from their home just outside of Cleator Moor.

In years gone by Budget Blinds operated out of stores in two locations in the Whitehaven town centre area.

They offer a wide range of blinds and are completely word-of-mouth and do very little advertisement.

Keith Robinson, the owner of Budget Blinds along with his wife Anne, said: "We started in May 1989, we were located at the top end of James Street in Whitehaven for a number of years.

"We then moved from there to Tangier Street but we had a fire at the store back in 2006. We were having the roof repaired and it set fire so we moved up to where we are now.

"The fire brigade who dealt with the fire used the building later on for a training video.

"We've got one employee, Laura, who works with us full time. We work around the whole of Cumbria.

"We offer made-to-measure blinds with free fitting and free installation. We manufacture vertical blinds but we offer every type of blind.

"We're quite popular in the area; for years we haven't advertised and just go by people recommending us to new customers.

"We do commercial work as well as domestic. We're currently working with Stobart's doing blinds at the hospital.

"We've also worked with the council and worked with a number of the schools in the area to install blinds. It's a high-quality product at a budget price."
