Harrogate Town defender Kayne Ramsay was taken to A&E after being injured in their game at Carlisle United.
The visiting player suffered a facial injury late in the visitors' 1-0 win at Brunton Park.
Ramsay was substituted in the 90th minute after receiving attention from physios and medical staff.
Harrogate manager Simon Weaver said the 22-year-old player had gone to hospital with suspected cheekbone damage.
“Kayne is in a bad way,” said Weaver in a post-match interview with his club's website.
“That’s why it flattens you a bit, seeing him after the jubilation of winning – his face is really cut, and we’re worried about his cheekbone.

“He’s off to A&E right now.”
Ramsay was injured following a challenge on Carlisle's Omari Patrick which United boss Paul Simpson felt was poor.
"I don’t know what he [Ramsay] has done but his face is smashed in," Simpson said.
"Hopefully he isn’t too bad, but it looked a bit of a reckless challenge on Omari.
“He will probably need some treatment.”
