Paul Simpson moved to allay injury fears over Carlisle United star Owen Moxon after the defeat to Harrogate Town.

The midfielder limped off late in the 1-0 defeat at Brunton Park.

But Simpson said the indications are that Moxon merely suffered a dead leg and not anything more serious.

“He just got a dead leg more than anything, that’s all it was,” said United’s manager.

“He thought he could run it off, but obviously couldn't, and he was just getting a bit restricted.

“We had good options we could bring on, so it was a case of getting him off, and we'll get him nursed through this week and hope he's okay.”

Moxon has played in all but one of United’s league games this season and Simpson will hope he can continue that run at AFC Wimbledon next weekend.

Another player in need of attention will be Omari Patrick, Simpson said, after he was involved in a heavy challenge with Harrogate’s Kayne Ramsay late in the Brunton Park defeat.

The visiting defender appeared to come off worse, with a facial injury, but Simpson said attacker Patrick also hurt his ankle in the challenge.

“Omari got what I thought was a bad tackle,” Simpson said.

“Unfortunately their lad…I don’t know what he’s done but his face is smashed in. I don’t know how that happened, and hopefully he isn’t too bad, but it looked a bit of a reckless challenge on Omari.

“He [Patrick] took a really bad whack on his ankle.”

Simpson, meanwhile, said Joel Senior was again rested as the wing-back was again not included in the matchday squad.

Ben Barclay remained in the side in Senior's place.

"Joel is fine," said Simpson.

"I made the decision to stick with Ben because I thought he deserved to go again with the way he played the other night [against Barrow].

"Joel has been absolutely brilliant to get himself fit again after ten months and we just have to make sure we keep looking after him and building his strength up.

"We want to get him to the point where he’s smoother in everything he does, but I’m really pleased with Ben and what he’s produced so far in the two games he’s played."
