ScotRail has been recognised as a Top Employer in the United Kingdom for 2023 for the fourth year running.

This news followed an announcement today by a global employers organisation.

ScotRail are one of more than 2,100 organisations in 120 countries and regions, across five continents, to be certified by the Top Employers Institute programme.

The company operates trains in our district across north Cumbria and southern Scotland.

Natalie Smith, ScotRail HR director, said: "We are delighted to be able to celebrate our re-certification as a Top Employer for 2023.

"The recognition of the hard work, commitment and professionalism of colleagues across the organisation, our processes, policies, and practices, is well deserved.

"We’re determined to maintain the highest levels of people performance, wellbeing, and development, as core elements of our people strategy."

To be a Top Employer, organisations must provide the very best working environment for employees through their ‘people-first’ HR practices, and ScotRail has been recognised as an employer of choice.

The Top Employers Institute programme certifies organisations based on the participation and results of their HR Best Practices Survey.

This survey covers six HR domains consisting of 20 topics such as People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Well-being, and Diversity & Inclusion and more.

David Plink, Top Employers Institute chief executive officer, said: “Despite the challenging year we have experienced, which has certainly made an impact on organisations around the globe, ScotRail has continued to demonstrate the power of putting their people first in the workplace.

“We are proud to share this year’s announcement and congratulate the organisations who have been certified in their respective countries through the Top Employers Institute programme.”
