AHEAD of Carlisle United's clash with Sutton United, Paul Simpson has given his thoughts on the latest game at Brunton Park.

Last weekend the Blues were dumped out of the FA Cup by Walsall and Paul Simpson is keen to move past the disappointment of the Cup exit and restore focus on winning games in the league.

He said: "This is a game that I want to win, I'm not going to hide away from it and that's not me being disrespectful, if we do our jobs properly we can cause Sutton a lot of problems and I hope that enough problems are caused so that we get a win out of it.

"We have to make sure we work extremely hard, compete for everything, first and second balls and then we have to hope that our ability comes through and we are able to put on a good performance.

Matt Gray's Us have struggled on their travels this season, only winning once away from home. However, Simpson stressed the importance of making sure his side get their performance right on Saturday.

He said: "I think you have to take their form into account but if we don't do it properly their form away from home will have absolutely no effect on the game at all.

"We have just got to make sure we do the game properly, I'd imagine they'll be disappointed with the start they have had to the season, especially after a having a really strong season last year.

"They will want to carry on a move on from winning their last home game  and try and get two wins in the league on the trott.

"We've just got to do what we can do to stop it."

The game against Sutton is also the first of a Brunton Park double-header for Carlisle and Paul Simpson is hoping the fans will get behind his squad at the weekend and against Barrow in the Cumbrian derby.

He said: "Our supporters have been brilliant all season, home and away, even last weekend at Walsall they were absolutely fanstastic so I'm quite sure they'll come out in their numbers.

"I know there's challenges that everybody faces at this time of year with finances and with Christmas shopping to do an all of those things.

"I would expect our fans to come out in numbers becasue they've supported us and they can see what we're doing and what we're trying to do and all I hope is that we put on a perfromance that makes them want to come back."
