Yoga classes are great for your well-being.

Carol-Anne Barber has been teaching yoga for more than 15 years and is able to cater her yoga classes to care for anyone.

Yoga is beneficial for everyone, the slow movement and deep breaths increase blood flow and warm up muscles, while holding poses helps to build strength.

Yoga can increase flexibility as well as muscle strength and tone, it can improve respiration, energy and vitality and provides you with some protection from injury.

It is also a good way to maintain a balanced metabolism by gently exercising your cardio and circulatory health, but with little strain to the body.

Carol-Anne teaches yoga every Tuesday night from 7pm-8pm at Grizebeck Community Hall, Kirkby-in-Furness.

Using yoga balls for balance and belts and blocks to help with reach, the poses are modified for anyone who needs to restrict the level of strain on certain body parts.

Classes generally focus on one set of muscle group at a time, one night will aim to release tension in your lower back while the following week you will concentrate on your core.

At the end of each session, Carol-Anne takes you through a guided meditation, a relaxing period for you to exercise your brain through mindfulness, which can have a great effect on your mental health.

Carol-Anne said: “Some people think that yoga isn’t for them because they are too inflexible, but my advice would be to give it a try anyway. Yoga is not about the end posture, it’s about listening to your body and working with your body, there is no room for ego in yoga.”

One class with Carol-Anne is just £6 and the only thing you need to bring is yourself as yoga mats and other equipment is provided.
