A fast-food and coffee business which is going to set up shop in Cumbria has revealed its opening date.

Tim Hortons, a Canadian coffee and donuts chain, is going to open its first restaurant and drive-thru in Penrith later next month.

Located adjacent to Kemplay Bank Roundabout on Bridge Lane, the new restaurant is set to create up to 50 jobs for the local community, offering a combination of full-time and part-time roles with progression and training opportunities.

The announcement also forms part of the brand’s plan to double its estate across the country by the end of 2023.

The venue will offer dine-in seating for up to 80 guests as well as its drive-thru service.

Delivery options will also be made available following the launch.

Customers can expect coffee, freshly-baked doughnuts, hot sandwiches, wraps and burgers.

Kevin Hydes, the chief commercial officer of Tim Hortons in the UK, said:  “We know how much our fans in the North of England love Tim Hortons so we cannot wait to open our first drive-thru restaurant in Cumbria.

"The wonderful locals and those in the wider county have been waiting patiently for us to announce an opening date, so I’m thrilled to be sharing the news.

“The team has worked extremely hard behind the scenes training and getting ready to open and welcome our first customers.

"We pride ourselves on providing an inclusive, family-friendly environment, offering quality value food and drinks, and we’d love to see as many people as possible at our grand opening on Thursday, December 15.

"There is a serious number of prizes and giveaways up for grabs and we wouldn’t anyone want to miss out!”
