Southwards Farm Shop run a successful takeaway service that is coming to Barrow Eats this December, providing a range of locally produced and freshly cooked meals.

Based at Station Yard, Askam-in-Furness, Southward's Farm shop has also just been welcomed to the Barrow Shops app, which goes live in February.

Joining Barrow Shop means a full meat selection of protein, pies, BBQ supplies and much more will soon be available for delivery directly to your door in Barrow, Askam, Ulverston and Dalton.

Gavin Southward, who runs the business said: “We set off with a good start and had good local support. But suddenly, over the last few months, we have been struggling for support.”

“If you don’t use, you lose, is unfortunately true for family businesses like his."

But Gavin hopes things will pick up soon and is looking forward to Christmas, he said: “Last year’s Christmas market was a massive hit, with people coming from all over - we hope to see the same again this year.”

Southward’s Christmas Market will be held on December 18 and 19 with the aim of supporting local traders.

This year they have a selection of prize meat ready for your Christmas table, delicious cuts, cooked and ready to eat as you enjoy the market, local ales and even a drop in from Santa himself.

Gavin said: “We are still taking Christmas orders, it’s not too late to get your order in.

“We have so much to offer, we’re not just a butcher’s shop! We have a fun yard to visit, and a little playground for kids to play in while their parent shop.”

Gavin also said he is pleased to introduce a new butcher called “Bobby the Scotch Man,” who he hopes will ignite some new interest in the local farm shop.
