Strictly Come Dancing returned to Blackpool for the first time since 2019 as fans celebrate.

The BBC dance contest kicked off its much-anticipated Blackpool special in dazzling fashion with the professional dancers performing amongst the seaside resort’s famous funfair attractions.

The prestigious Tower Ballroom is a fan favourite as many viewers rejoiced that the Strictly stars were back after two years due to the Covid pandemic.

The milestone special opened with a dedication to the area by local people as it reflected on how important the town’s relationship is with the show.

Strictly returns to Blackpool as BBC viewers celebrate

Performing to You’ve Got The Music In You by New Radicals, the professional dancers and judges burst onto the dancefloor with a vibrant performance.

Co-host Tess Daly introduced the show, saying: “Hello and welcome to Strictly Come Dancing, it has been three long years and we are finally back in the home of ballroom.”

At home, BBC viewers celebrated the dance series's return to the iconic ballroom.
