A café has been nominated for a national award recognising its dog-friendly service.

Café Hope, in Hope Park, Keswick, is a finalist for the Dog Friendly Awards, a nationwide award that showcases and rewards places that are friendly to dogs.

The café has been nominated by friends and customers of the business, which has been posting videos on TikTok showing its customers’ furry friends.

The café has a special menu catering especially for dogs, including ice ceram made for dogs, dog biscuits, sausages, chicken, rice and gravy, and scrambled eggs.

There is also, surprisingly, a beer for dogs, which is, of course, alcohol-free.

A spokesperson from the people that run the Dog Friendly Awards stated on their website: “We are delighted to announce our 10th Dog Friendly Awards.

“The Dog Friendly Awards are your opportunity to recognise and reward dog friendly places and pet businesses that go the extra mile for the benefit of the UK’s 12.5million dogs and their owners.

“Winners of the Dog Friendly Awards in each of the categories are chosen by public vote.

“All voters get entered into a prize draw to win £500 to spend on a dog-friendly holiday and the finalists and winning businesses are invited to an Awards ceremony in November.”

Speaking on the business’ nomination, Viki Mallaghan, who manages the café, said: “We recognise that dogs are part of your family.

“We make the effort to include high chairs for babies, but we also accommodate for people with their dogs.”

The café also has dedicated water stations and gardens for the dogs to enjoy and use, showing that the staff go out of their way to accommodate the needs of customers with their pet pals.

The team at Café Hope finds out next month if they have been successful in winning the grand prize this year, after also making the finals the year before.

The awards ceremony will be held at than the headquarters of the Kennel Club in London.
