AN Ulverston business has been announced as one of the recipients of a top industry award.

Oxley Developments Company Ltd, located on Priory Road, was named as one of two regional winners in the British Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.

The company was named as the winner of the Commitment to People Award (The Workforce Developer).

The other winner was the Eco Group which won Green Business of the Year.

Oxley design and manufacture LED lighting and high specification components for defence and aerospace markets.

Their Commitment to People award recognises their dedication to people development, fostering a positive culture and supporting employee wellbeing.

Jayne Moorby, marketing manager at Oxley Developments, said: “The Oxley team is delighted to be recognised as a Regional Winner.

"Our founder, Freddy Oxley had a core value of commitment to our people and our community, we have been part of the Cumbrian community for 80 years and Freddy’s values are still in the DNA of the business today.

"As part of this commitment, we’re proud to have launched the four-day week initiative to increase productivity and support our team in achieving a better work life balance.

"We’re also proud to work with young people locally, over the last 10 years we’ve supported 20,000 young people on STEM projects and on developing employability skills.
