Workington’s MP has secured a new role in the first round of government appointments approved by the King.
Mark Jenkinson has been appointed assistant government whip as King Charles III approved a number of new junior ministerial roles.
Mr Jenkinson said: “It’s a huge privilege to be asked to serve in His Majesty’ government. It’s the first round of King’s appointments in 70 years and I’m one of the King’s first appointees.
“All the hard work starts today.”
Mr Jenkinson previously held the role of parliamentary private secretary for the Department of Environment, Farming and Rural Affairs (Defra). He has served as the MP for Workington since December 2019.
