DOUBLE celebrations are in order for a Furness businessman who is celebrating a major birthday and anniversary this month.

Arthur Keith Templeton (Keith) will be celebrating his 80th birthday on September 26, coinciding with his company also marking a major milestone.

Mr Templeton’s company, Terry Chemicals, has reached its 50th year of trading this year.

Terry Chemicals was named in dedication to Keith’s late brother Terry - keeping his memory alive as the company continues to thrive year on year.

Terry Chemicals had small beginnings, with the business starting at Keith’s home many decades ago.

Keith would formulate and mix household chemicals in a drum by using a paddle – a process that he would carry out while working from his garage.

Eventually the business expanded and grew, progressing to now owning the former Omnibus building in Dalton.

The Beckside Road based business has been manufacturing and supplying chemicals, paper and cleaning products to businesses in and around Cumbria till this day.

The company has also been involved with community events, previously donating prizes for the Barrow heat winners of Cumbria Young Motorist of the Year.

Staff of Terry Chemicals and its sister company Furness Services are wishing their boss a happy birthday during the momentous year.

An employee of Terry said: “Keith is a great person to work for, he is very laid back and it feels almost like a family.

"He does expect a high level of professionalism from his work force also, like any other boss. He is always there to guide us if we face any issues. The workforce have all been there 10 plus years so this shows how we feel about him as a person and boss.

All his staff at Terry Chemicals and sister company Furness Services wish him all the best and a very happy birthday."
