HUDDLESTON'S Butchers in Windermere once again celebrated receiving a full food hygiene rating after an inspection.

However this time is special because now the butchers qualify for an 'elite' food hygiene award.

This is given out to food establishments which have received three consecutive five-star ratings by the website Scores on the Doors.

According to Scores on the Doors, only 12 per cent of businesses in the UK are eligible for the elite award.

The food hygiene inspections are completed by South Lakeland District Council and are unannounced.

The report found the butcher's has a 'good' standard across the board for categories such as food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, and management of food safety.

Huddleston's Butcher's does not supply its meat to supermarkets as it believes that 'mass-produced food loses its identity.'
