THE WILSON Arms in Torver, near Coniston, is having a major refurbishment done to its interior.

But the pub is still open, with a marquee erected outside for over the summer. Bands will be playing there on Saturdays, with The Thieving Magpies playing this weekend.

Situated on the Cumbrian Way at the foot of the Old Man of Coniston and across the road from Coniston Water, the pub is a popular haunt for hikers and locals.

In a video put on Facebook, it revealed that the biggest change to the pub will be an extension to the bar, as one of the walls will be knocked down.

In the video, one of the workers sorting out the refurbishment said: "Everybody says the bar is too small, we're going to make it bigger."

The kitchen is still running behind the bar, serving food to hungry walkers.

The marquee section has a mixture of comfy chairs and traditional pub benches extending to the garden and it has a log-burning stove to keep the pub-goers warm.

The pub also functions as a hotel, providing accommodation for those wishing to visit the Lake District around Coniston water.
