Rescuers helped an injured woman in a difficult to access location.
On Thursday, June 23, emergency services were alerted to a walker being knocked over by her family dog while walking alongside the River North Tyne in Acomb.
Due to the difficult to access location, the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Paramedics requested Mountain Rescue’s assistance at the incident.
North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team attended as well as Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team and deployed two 4x4 response vehicles.
NEAS Hazardous Area Response Team also attended.
The first member of a rescue team was on the scene within 20 minutes and confirmed that a stretcher carry of approximately 300-400 metres would be required along the riverside path.
The woman was safely handed to the ambulance by 11 pm and the incident involved 22 Team members for 2 hours and 10 minutes.
