A Kendal man has been jailed for breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home the day after their relationship ended.

Michael Lomas, 41, was sentenced to 12 months in prison at Carlisle Crown Court on June 9, 2022, for crimes of burglary, theft, and criminal damage relating to his ex-partner.

Lomas, of Castle Grove, Kendal, burgled a property on St John's View, Old Hutton, on June 23, 2021, and stole a back door key, an iPhone 8, a North Face jacket, two pairs of training shoes, and a bottle of champagne.

He was also charged with criminal damage to property under £5,000 at a property in Old Hutton, also on June 23, 2021, and without lawful excuse, damaged a utility room floor, a G-tech hoover, a Toshiba TV, a Panasonic TV, a washing machine, and a hot tub belonging to Claire Harvey.

The Crown Prosecution Service North West tweeted:

"The day after his partner ended their relationship, Michael Lomas, 41 from Kendal, returned to her home, turned off the electricity, damaged appliances, and flooded it.

"He also stole items from the house. 

"He has been jailed for 12 months for burglary."
