A new business has started in the city which its owners hope will be a first.

Boozy Juice is a new cocktail delivery business that makes, bottles, and distributes sweet cocktails to thirsty customers in Carlisle.

At the moment there are three flavours for drinkers to choose from: ‘Strawberry + Vodka, ‘Tropical + Gin’ and ‘Grape + White Rum’.

These cocktails are served in portable plastic bottles with screw top lids, so you can take them out to barbecues, picnics, or any other outdoors social event where you don’t fancy hiring a mixologist.

The business is headed by pair Matt Davison and Jordan Armstrong, neither of whom have hospitality or catering experience, but just saw a gap in the market.

Matt said: “We decided to start our cocktail business as we saw a gap in the market.

“Cocktails in town are often quite expensive and not very strong.

“We realised there was a gap for a reasonably priced cocktail that packed a punch.”

Indeed, each bottle is 10 per cent ABV, about as strong as wine.

In Cumbria:

Each bottle is £5, but they offer five bottles for £20 if bought in bulk in that way.

The pair said the response so far has been amazing, and they have been delivering up and down Carlisle every weekend so far, something they hope to continue.

To their knowledge, and based on a quick Google search for ‘cocktail delivery Carlisle’, this is the first of its kind in the city.

Matt said: “I believe a couple of restaurants did something similar when we were on lockdown over the last two years; but as far as we are aware we are the only cocktail delivery service in Carlisle.”

Their cocktails are original, so don’t be expecting a pornstar martini or old fashioned, Matt said they use a variety of different ingredients to ‘stand out from the rest in the market’.

Matt added: “We are striving to bring a new flavour to the city.”
