A STUDY, conducted by a pet insurance company, has concluded that Cumbria is one of the best holiday destinations in the country for dog owners.

Home to plenty of rolling hills and pretty lakes that are perfect for dog walking, the county takes the top spot in Petplan UK’s rankings, with 53.6 out of every 1,000 reviews of holiday destinations there mentioning dogs.

Petplan analysed over 73,000 reviews made by pet owners on Booking.com to find out which locations in Great Britain and around the world are the best locations to go on holiday with your pet.

The company also looked into which pet-friendly destinations were the best in categories such as quality of rooms, best views, and best restaurants to give your readers are full guide for their next pet-away.

Cumbria was named the top holiday destination for Brits with 53.6 out of every 1,000 reviews of holiday destinations in Cumbria mentioning dogs - more than any other holiday destination in Great Britain.

The area also scored the highest percentage of top-rated reviews (83.3%) for the quality of views, from pet-owning holidaymakers.

Cumbria ranked as the 13th best holiday destination for pet owners overall in England with an impressive 80.4% average of positive reviews from 3,714 pet owners.
