CARLISLE College is celebrating the success of two of their apprentices gained Distinctions and became the first county to complete the Painter and Decorator standard. 

Both Nick Graham and Max Tate both started their qualification on the level 2 Painter and Decorator Apprenticeship at Carlisle College in September 2019. 

Dan Smith, painting and decorating training advisor, said: "Nick and Max demonstrated a will to succeed, learn new skills and develop their knowledge throughout their time at Carlisle College. We ensured the training they received in College covered all aspects of their apprenticeship to guarantee they were fully prepared to succeed at end point assessment.

"Both have worked tremendously hard, and we are immensely proud of their achievements."

Nick, who is employed by Story Decorating Group and Max, who is employed by Sissons Decorators, were ready to sit their End Point Assessment 6 months ahead of schedule and passed with distinctions in all 3 aspects.

The End-Point Assessment is designed to assess whether an apprentice has developed the knowledge, skills and behaviours required within the apprenticeship programme. 

Ade Sisson, owner of Sissons Decorators said: "We are delighted with Max’s success over the last year. He has shown great application to achieve this success in his exams and continues to go from strength to strength at work. 

"He has had great help and training from Carlisle College, and his success would not have been possible without their guidance." 

Adam Lee, contracts manager of Story Decorating Group, said: "It has been a pleasure to see Nick working through his Apprenticeship. 

"We have been fortunate to have many local projects, enabling us to stay connected with Nick, visit him on sites and see how he has developed in his trade but also in his communication skills and his confidence. Nick has worked hard, and we are extremely proud to keep him as an important part of the team at Story Decorating Group," he said.
