A recently renovated public toilet in Coniston has been criminally damaged.
The facilities, near Church Beck Bridge and the Spar, had undergone a recent renovation costing almost £30,000.
A spokesman for Coniston Parish Council posted:
"These facilities were upgraded to meet the expectations of residents and visitors alike.
"Unfortunately the toilets were vandalised last night.
"The door had been forced, toilets and other equipment damaged.
"They will be closed until repairs can be carried out.
"This matter has been reported to the police.
"If you are aware of anything which might help to identify the culprit you are asked to contact the Parish Council on 015394 41442 or via parish@coniston.info"
CCTV images have been passed to the police.
