A newly-appointed vicar has shown his appreciation for donations of £1,000 that will help raise funds for a new kitchen and toilets in the building.
Rev'd Canon Steve Wright, from London, who is the newly appointed vicar of Haltwhistle, Greenhead, and Beltingham, was thrilled to accept a cheque of £1,000 by Cllr Terry Christie for St Cuthbert's Church in Greenhead.
He said: "We are very grateful to Terry for his gift and we hope to use it to help use it towards the end goal of finally having toilets and kitchen."
The money will be going towards building new toilets at the back of the church, something that has been quoted to them that will cost around £20,000.
So far, the church has managed to raise £6,000 from various sponsors and will allow them to apply for a grant to potentially get up to the target.
