*Dawn Devine has been appointed as the new Operations Director to Lamont Pridmore’s South Cumbria team.

Dawn joins the family-run firm of Chartered Accountants, Tax and Business Advisers from a national Top 10 accountancy practice in Berkshire where she was a Partner. She will now work across the company’s offices in Kendal, Barrow and Carnforth.

Dawn is a qualified ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) accountant with over 35 years’ experience in practice.

Born in Lancashire, she has spent much of her working career in the south of England. Now living in Hutton Roof, she said access to the Lake District fells was one of the main reasons for relocating. She is a keen walker and a member of the Long Distance Walkers Association.

 

*Brendan O’Connor has joined the team at Armstrong Watson LLP, Accountants, Business and Financial Advisers as an Audit Director specialising in advising Pension Scheme clients. 

Brendan comes to the firm from Haysmacintyre, who have recently withdrawn from the pension sector.

He will continue to be based in London and will work with clients across the UK.

 

*Stan Sherlock Associates in Carlisle has recruited three new members of staff.

Helen Bush, who has 33 years’ experience in financial services, joins the family firm to give advice on mortgages and protection. Laura Storey joins as the new office manager and Karen Singleton is the newest member of the business support team.

 

*Spencer Knaggs, Head of the Medical Negligence and Serious Injury department at Burnetts Solicitors LLP, has become an Equity Partner

Spencer, a specialist in serious injury cases with over 25 years’ experience, joined Burnetts in 2017. He will now join the eight existing equity partners to become a part owner in the business, which employs more than 140 people at three sites in Carlisle, Cockermouth and Newcastle.

 

*Lee Grears, founder and Managing Director of Inspection, NDT and Destructive Testing and Training Company Responsive Ltd, based in Workington, has been appointed as the new chair of the board of Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster (BECBC) . Lee was voted onto the board in 2021 and elected to lead the board in 2022. Lee steps into a role previously held by Ivan Baldwin, Bechtel Head of UK Civil Nuclear Market

 

*Adam Turley has been appointed as a Director of McDaniels Law.

Adam returned to the firm as a Managing Associate in December 2020 leading the firm’s expansion into Cumbria with its office at Carlisle’s Warwick Mill Business Park.

He graduated from Lancaster University in 2009 with an Honours degree in Politics and International Relations before undertaking the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at Northumbria University, graduating with a Distinction in 2012. He qualified as a solicitor in 2014 and practises exclusively in intellectual property law.
