A DIFFERENT take on traditional South Asian and Indian cuisine restaurant is set to open in bustling town.

Bengal Rose South Asian Restaurant located at 5, Fountain Street Ulverston is set to open its doors at the end of this month providing hungry customers with hearty dishes full of unique flavours.

Manager, Sanny Rahman from Manchester said she decided to open in Ulverston because of the good local trade and community spirit.

She said: “The Lake district is such a good location for our market.

“When we saw this premises for sale we jumped at the opportunity. Ulverston is part of the Lakes and an easy drive from Barrow and Kendal.

“It’s a small town but with a big heart, big enough to capture good market.

“It also has good local trade which we pride ourselves in, we want to be a part of the town centre, we didn’t want to come here and be part of the tourist trade.”

Sanny said her restaurant offers a unique cuisine combining all south Asian flavours and dishes that is unheard of in the heart of Ulverston.

She said: “Due to the rise of vegan/vegetarianism we have an array of special vegetable dishes such as Gurkha Sabzee a Nepalese dish cooked with chickpeas, lentils and spinach cooked lightly in a variety of mild spices.

“Also a lot of fish dishes as it’s fishing town we wanted to make sure we offered dishes that locals would enjoy. Such as the Punjabi Muchly a Punjab dish of marinate fish, marinated in spices and served with mint and our Tandoori King prawn marinated and cooked in our tandoor oven. “

“We also have a different take on a traditional Sunday roast, which myself and our experience chefs have created.

“This will be served in a months’ time as we wanted to finalise the opening of the regular menu and introduced this later. “

“We want to this restaurant be a part of the community and support local trades such as partnering with Wolftown Gin and Samovar chocolate for special occasions.

“The previous Jade Fountain had a brilliant reputation and customer based under Yvonne and Johnny and we hope we can continue this on and welcome everyone back!”

The restaurant is set to open at the end of February after finalising the last details.
