A NORTH Cumbrian theatre group are welcoming audiences back to their latest show which will take place next month.

Carlisle Green Room Club will be hosting their production of 'Two' at West Walls Theatre in Carlisle from the January 31 until the February 5.

The shows will begin at 7.30pm with the Saturday matinee on February 5 being held at 2pm.

The group's director David Wood said: "If you have had enough of staying in throughout this harsh winter, with not much entertainment on the box, the next play at Carlisle's little theatre, The Green Room Club might just be what you are looking for to take away your winter blues.

"This play is acted by two players, but actually tells the life stories of 14 characters. They are all played by the same actors who play the landlady and landlord; who also act out their own life stories in front of our eyes."

'Two' was created by the ever-popular northern playwright Jim Cartwright who also wrote 'Rise and Fall of Little Voice' which the group performed a number of years ago.

Mr Wood said: "This style and manner of writing is quite unique, combining a modern poetic style with the gritty northern atmosphere of pub life. Underneath all the fun and laughs of course, there is the pathos surrounding the life story of the landlord and landlady, which remains hidden until the very climax of the story."

There are two casts who will be performing the show so it is all the more incentive to go and see the show more than once.

Jen and Pauley Heron will be taking up the roles whilst on other dates the popular Jenny Pike and Stewart Grant will be showcasing their talents.

On the first night all tickets will be on sale for half price and for the first time ever the Carlisle Green Room Club will be offering a Saturday matinee.

Mr Wood added: "We are looking forward to welcoming you back to our wonderful theatre for the first play of our 70th Anniversary season."
