A BARROW mum has set up her own crystal candle business to help lift people’s spirits after she was feeling low during lockdown.

Midwife and mum of four Laura Mill, from Walney, set up her one of a kind crystal candle range ‘Thea Lake District Candles’ in October when she needed something to make her feel good so looked into making wellbeing crystal-infused candles.

The business, which also sells room sprays and reed diffusers worldwide, has a collection which includes the well-being range which looks at reducing anxiety, improving clarity and healing and manifesting self-love.

Laura, 41, said: “All of the candles are infused with the crystals which hold healing traits. The less stress is infused with amethyst which is the purple stone, which is scented with lavender and is the essential oil of distressing and calmness.

“They’re so unique and everybody loves them, I’ve had some great responses. I had a woman message me who bought the healing one for her daughter who started chemo and she said it just made such a lovely personal gift.”

The business is even more unique with it being named after Laura’s nanna Thea, who died just as her youngster daughter was born and she got to find out she was also be called Thea.

Laura said: “My nanna hung on for me to have her and hear that she would be named after her.

“I also put the Lake District in as I’m really proud of where they’re made.

“It’s like midwifery. I’m not doing it for the money but to potentially help people out there like they helped me, they make people feel good.”

The business has recently started stocking in Stollers furniture store, located on Walney Road, Barrow and Laura is hoping that work that is in the pipeline for other businesses to stock her range in the future.

Prices range from £25 for a candle, £30 for a reed diffuser and £18 for a room spray.
