A NORTH Cumbrian mother and daughter have raised thousands of pounds for a hearing dogs charity.
Jane and June Forster, from Brampton, raised £4,200 for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People at an event last month.
The pair hosted a craft fair at the Crown Hotel in Wetheral on Sunday October 17.
They also held a raffle at the pub and Jane sold crumble at the market in Brampton.
The duo have been organising fundraisers for more than 30 years.
June Forster said: "We do a different charity every year. We asked the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People if they would like any money.
"We did it for the Guide Dogs for the Blind [before] and the next one was the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People."
She added: "People have been very generous."
Chris Hughes, a hearing dog recipient, accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity.
He said: "It’s fantastic [to get the money]. A hearing dog, over the course of its life will cost the charity somewhere in the region of £40,000.
"So this will go a long way to helping with one dog for a very lucky recipient. They are life changing."
He added: "I can’t function very well without [my hearing dog]."
