They will also have the opportunity to apply directly for hundreds of vacancies.]

Chenez Isabella Hardy, PR & Communications Manager, The UK Careers Fair, comments: “We are extremely excited to make our return to Carlisle! We invite job-seekers of all skills and ages to attend. Attending a careers fair is a great way of meeting face-to-face with employers and discovering new opportunities within a chosen industry or multiple sectors, plus employers can find extraordinary talent too."

Carlisle Mencap is one of the organisations that is holding a stall at the fair.

It provides life-long person-centred support for people with learning disabilities and their families in Cumbria.

Kevin Mackay, Business Manager at Carlisle Mencap, said: "[We're holding a stall] because resourcing is tight and we're keen to encourage people to work in social care, and particularly with the third sector.

"We're doing this as a joint session with Oakley, West House, Glenmoor and Chrysalis. We all recognise the resources issues over the last year and that there's a real need to encourage people to keep considering working in this sector.

"Across the board there is a need [for more labour]. We're probably better than we were a few months ago in that we've actually managed to recruit some people but the marking is still very tight."

UK Careers Fair hosts events across more than 50 locations across the country.

It calls itself the top platform in the country for face-to-face recruitment.

There are more than 20 businesses holding stalls at the Carlisle Careers Fair.

These are Edge Hill University, Creative Support Ltd, Army (Hytner Exhibitions), Pebbles Care (Radical Services), Apprentice Support & Knowledge (ASK) Programme, Story Contracting, Ingeus, Carlisle Mencap, Turning Point, Saint & Co, Greggs PLC, Professional Security, Cumbria County Council, Lidl GB, Center Parcs, Sytner Group Ltd, University of Cumbria, David Allen, Halston and Community Integrated Care.
