A WINDERMERE post office has brought in new stock which will be used to support several local charities.

Nigel Bartlett, owner of the Post Office located on Crescent Road, is approaching his nineth year of business next month.

The post office has recently brought new Christmas themed stock including charity Christmas Cards supporting The British Heart Foundation, Marie Curie and The Rainbow Trust.

The stock also included bags, bows, eld headbands, tinsel, and gift cards.

Nigel said: “Before here I worked as an area manager with the Coop and I’ve worked in a few different roles in the post office. Going from Assistant manager, county clerk and now I’m running my own business.

“Nine years later I’m still here.

“It’s been an interesting time here and the last two years have been particularly interesting.

“I did keep the shop open for six days of the week but on reduced hours, and we kept social distancing just to make sure we could still provide a service.

“We never closed our door.

“Customer service is the forefront of what the shop is about and without customers there is no business.

“That’s always my philosophy. Without customers there is no business.

“In January 2015, I did a complete refit of the shop and removed some of the original barriers that were once there.

“It’s a barrier between people and I want it to be a more personal experience for people.

“I always look for ways to support the local charities. It’s just something I like doing. Doing my bit for others, it’s just little things that mean so much.

“I have some fantastic staff members. For us it’s not a nine to five jobs because when work needs doing it needs doing so hours go all over.

“A big thank you to Sue, Jo and Marion for all they do.

“We look forward to raising as much as we can for charities. Just doing our bit.”
