A SOUTH Cumbrian restaurant is 'considering its options' over a year after a fire devastated the premises.

The King Billy Grill at Kirksanton, near Millom, suffered a blow in July last year when a fire broke out at the property.

The restaurant is best known for its selection of meat, with fans travelling from all over the globe to taste it.

At the time of the fire, the owner said the restaurant would not be open "for the foreseeable future", and that they were "very grateful" to the fire brigade.

Last August they then announced that they had taken up temporary residence at Brockwood Hall, with plans to operate from the hall until repairs were made to the King Billy Grill.

They stated: "We’ve all had to endure some tough times recently, in our case we have been tested on various fronts.

"This latest setback could not have come at a worse time, however, having had time to consider my options, I have realised things could always be a lot worse. There’s no use dwelling on the past, let’s just concentrate on the future.

“With this in mind, we have secured a temporary premises to operate from until the necessary repairs have been done at the King Billy.

“Brockwood Hall have kindly offered us a home for the next few months.”

The restaurant has remained at the site much longer than the initial few months that was planned.

On Thursday the restaurant made the announcement that there is no longer a definite date on the completion of repairs after it was hoped that the work would be completed by the end of next month.

A spokesman said: "Unfortunately we have been informed that the work will not be completed by the end of November anymore and there is no definite completion date.

"This understandably has effected our future plans and we are having to consider our options.

"In the mean time we will now continue as we have been with the Billy@Brockwood menu until the end of December."
