BUSINESSES have the opportunity to give high street retail a go in town’s new pop-up shop scheme.

Barrow BID have introduced a pop-up shop where businesses can try high street retail for a short period of time and see if it is right for them before permanently moving into a premises in the town centre.

The Barrow business improvement district will help the business set up by offering a high street unit in the heart of Barrow town centre located on 81 Dalton Road for only £300 for two months which includes VAT, wi-fi, electric and water.

The team at Barrow BID will also be on hand to assist any businesses to promote their pop-up shop and help reach customers.

Barrow BID manager, Colin Garnett said you can expect to see this new venture happening from the start of October half term.

He said: “We have been looking at doing this for a while now.

“The premises became available and we approached Barrow Borough Council to buy it and thought now was a good time.

“It’s a great location being right on the high street, giving the opportunity for different types of businesses to excel.

“If a business is succeeding as a high street store and decides they want to pursue this as a new venture we at Barrow BID can help them find a new premises in the area that is right for them.

“We will be located in the upstairs office space in the building at least two days a week so businesses can come in and see us with an queries.

“We are hoping we can get as many business in for a two month period as possible – hopefully keeping it going until the end of 2022.

Rose Vintage & Retro managed by Becki Fishwick, local singer and vintage enthusiast will be the first company to try High Street retail in the Barrow BID Pop-up Shop.

Colin said: “There has been lots of success stories from businesses who started out in Barrow Market and moved into the town and are now booming in the industry. For example Gorilla Cheese and Jenny Stitches.”
