A confident person with an interest in local politics and their community is wanted to be the next town council clerk.

Aspatria Town Council is on the look out for a town clerk who will be responsible for managing day to day business, providing advice and implementing decisions.

Successful applicants will be computer literate, with excellent organisational skills and the ability to prepare council agendas, recording minutes and corresponding with external organisations on the council's behalf.

The clerk will work about 18 hours per week not including council meetings. The position involves working from home and the successful applicant will be provided with a printer.

A spokesperson for Aspatria Town Council said: "The council meets in the evening on the third Tuesday of each month, except August, when there is no meeting.

"Other meetings, for example the Parks and Allotments Committee, Christmas Planning etc will be called as required. Formal training and plenty of help and advice will be available."
