A TOWN centre shop left empty by the closure of chain store is due to go under the hammer.
Winfields Outdoors in Barrow’s Cavendish Street first closed temporarily during the first lockdown.
The large unit has now been put up for sale and the store is listed on the chain’s website as permanently closed.
It was listed for auction earlier this year a guide price of £150,000.
It is due to go under the hammer again on October 21 with a guide price of £120,000.
Auction House Cumbria's listing for the space described it as a ‘substantial, freehold, shop premises in an excellent central location’.
It said there was ‘huge potential’ for the space and the possibility of dividing it in two.
A statement from the company earlier this year said: “Sorry this store is now closed.
“We would like to thank all of our customers from the Winfields Barrow store for all your support over the years.
“If you have need anything our next nearest stores are the Keswick or the Haslingden store.”
Bosses described the store as: “A one stop shop for camping, workwear, outdoor gear and footwear in the Barrow area.
“Just south of the wonderful Lake District."
