LAKELAND Artisan had a successful haul at this year’s Great Taste awards.

Out of 5,383 products worldwide to receive a Great Taste 1, 2 or 3-star accolade on Tuesday, September 21, Lakeland Artisan received ten awards-the highest of all producers in Cumbria.

Geoff Monkman, managing director said “We are thrilled to have received ten awards this year, and highly delighted that our latest product Yan Gin by Herdwick Distillery, has been recognised.

“Herdwick Distillery is off to a flying start and with its first product Yan Gin having been created, designed, distilled and bottled in our distillery in Kendal It’s wonderful to be recognised by these awards.”

The 2-star awards, ‘Above and beyond delicious’ which less than ten per cent of entries achieved, were for the company’s:

Spiced fruit rum liqueur, rhubarb and ginger gin liqueur, damson extra jam and sweet garlic pickle.

The 1-star awards ‘A food that delivers fantastic flavour’ were for:

Yan gin by Herdwick Distillery, honey vodka liqueur, strawberry and sarsaparilla gin liqueur, sloe gin liqueur and damson and gin jam.

Established in 1994, Great Taste is organised by the Guild of Fine Food and is the world’s largest and longest-standing food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers.

14,113 different products were entered in 2021 from 108 countries.

Products were blind tasted by 355 judges, including; Joanna Blythman, investigative journalist and food writer, cook, writer and stylist, Kenny Tutt, MasterChef 2018 champion and restaurateur, food writer and cook, Xanthe Clay, presenter, author and tutor, Steven Lamb, baker and author, Martha Collison, and Kavi Thakrar from Dishoom, as well as food buyers from Selfridges, Fortnum & Mason and Partridges
