A north Cumbrian seaside town had an added reason to celebrate the sunny weather on the weekend after a well-known presenter and former footballer came to visit.

Sky Sports’s Chris Kamara decided he would go to Silloth to take in the sun with his family this weekend.

He could be seen enjoying the various sights and activities on offer at the seaside town, including a trip to Silloth Amusement Arcade.

Owner, Paul Blake, said the man - best known for his football analysis and “unbelievable Jeff” catchphrase - was “100 per cent down to earth”.

He added: “They were in and around Silloth for the whole weekend and it created quite a buzz.

"He’s just a really nice guy and dead easy to get on with.

“His grandson was on the bouncy castle and Chris asked if he could have a picture taken on the train.

“We had some kids on the train at the time and a couple of the parents recognised who it was. It was great for them to get a picture.

Chris has spent time as a player for clubs across the country, including Portsmouth, Leeds, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United to name just a few.

Paul added:”I just chatted to him about football.

“When you watch someone like that play football and commentate, the first thing you of asking is ‘how do you think England did in the European Championships’.

“He comes across just as he is on the tv.

“He’s 100 per cent down to earth and very obliging.

“There were dozens of people wanting selfies with him. He must get that all the time wherever he goes, but I think Silloth was quite blown away this weekend.

“It’s picked people up.

After spending time at the amusement arcade and playing football on the green with his family, Chris went to fish and chips at Mario’s.

Ilyas, who served Chris his fish and chips, said he was "really pleased to have him around".

"He was really warm and friendly and I was proud that he came to Mario's. It was very overwhelming."

On Twitter, Chris posted that he had been "treated Royally by the people of Silloth over the last few days".
