Cumbria Careers Hub is expanding in time for the new academic year to include all eligible secondary schools, special schools and colleges in the County.

Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership (CLEP) hosts and part funds the Careers Hub, through a contractual arrangement with the Careers and Enterprise Company.

Since its launch in January 2019, it has helped drive strong progress against every Gatsby benchmark, which describe high quality careers guidance.

The Hub now wants to employ additional Enterprise Coordinators, who will sit at the heart of the Hub to help schools and colleges improve their careers and enterprise activities and to engage with the world of work.

Careers Hub Manager Cath Dutton said: “This is brilliant news for the young people of Cumbria, especially those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) who haven’t had access to this support previously.

“SEND and Pupil Referral Units (PRU) have been a part of a Community of Practice sharing ideas and best practice, but this now means they will have the dedicated support of an Enterprise Coordinator and Enterprise Advisor who will work with them to develop their careers programme.”

The Careers Hub currently has 40 local schools and colleges working together with universities, training providers, employers and career professionals to improve careers education.
