A COMPANY in Cleator Moor has started a new course where those out of work can learn to upcycle pre-loved goods.

Skills 4 You this course to help the people who visit the centre and to make them aware to help the environment and help them to gain confidence.

Lucy Bailey, the Upcycling Tutor, said: “We work with unemployed people over the age of eighteen who are living in Copeland.”

“We feel that a lot of people are disadvantaged in the Copeland area, so this is a good opportunity for them.”

“People need to be cautious of what they are throwing away by doing this we are giving old products a new lease of life.”

Skills 4 You offers team building exercises and online courses to give people more confidence to get into the working world and gain employment.

The Upcycling programme runs for eight weeks from Monday to Thursday at 10am-2pm.

They also offer a wood workshop and a personal development course.

Skills For You have recently moved into a new building and are trying to expand their facilities.

Ms. Bailey said: “You form your own support network and are able to work in a professional environment.”

“It’s building people’s confidence to have their own projects.”
