OFFICES used by BBC Radio Cumbria are up for sale.

The broadcaster's base in Hartington Street, Barrow, is on the market for £90,000.

It previously went unsold after being listed for auction.

A listing says tenant Radio Cumbria is moving out 'in September'.

Ross Estate Agencies said: "We are bringing to the market this freehold property which is currently leased to BBC Radio till September, close to town centre with good passing trade, local transport links and shopping area.

"The property comprises of several office spaces with reception area, staff room, kitchen, cloakroom/WC also a large broadcasting studio.

"The property would suit a variety of buyers as it is in good order throughout and covers the ground floor only."

The BBC announced plans to close a number of its local offices across the county last year amid 'significant financial pressures'.

A spokesman said: "We have 39 broadcast bases across England.

"These sites are supported by a number of very small, often unstaffed sites in nearby locations.

"New technology means these smaller sites are no longer needed."

The BBC said it was 'fully committed' to covering news in the area.
