AN ENTREPRENEUR has announced expansion plans for the county’s bubble tea brand.

Thomas Cheung who owns Deja Brew in Cleator Moor plans to open a new store in a long-standing derelict building in Egremont.

Thomas launched Deja Brew a few weeks before the country was plunged into the Coronavirus crisis in March 2020, which scuppered his growth plans.

Following the relaxation of rules, Thomas saw huge demand: “We have been well supported since day one, there has been a real buzz about the kind of food we serve which hasn’t been seen before in the area. We are eternally grateful for the support we have received, particularly in what has proved a very hard past 18 months for our industry and small businesses.”

“We are aiming for an opening date in August for both sit in and takeaway, very similar to our existing menu in Cleator Moor, specialising in bubble tea and ramen.” We will be adding our brand-new Hong Kong Bubble Waffles, which are a first for Cumbria.

“With the opening of our Egremont cafe, we will be bringing many more much-needed job opportunities to the area, we anticipate there will be around 10-15 vacancies initially, if not more. I want to also thank the fantastic team we have at Deja Brew, for their hard work as without them, we wouldn’t have been able to open our second cafe so quickly!”
