A CUMBRIAN firm was proud to achieve its goal of clawing back a £30 million contract to provide personal protective equipment to the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority group.

Romar Innovate has been awarded the £30 million contract to provide personal protective equipment to the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority group.

The Cleator Moor-based firm will provide services to NDA sites across the UK, including Sellafield for the next four years.

Margaret Johnstone, operations manager at the Cleator Moor firm that it was an exiting moment: “Especially because it was a contact we lost a few years ago to Arco.

“We won it back, that was the main goal. This allows us to continue investment in our Cumbria based infrastructure and personnel, and we look forward to maintaining our high levels of service and innovation in partnership with our clients across the NDA group.”

Susan Lussem, Sellafield Ltd supply chain director said: “Keeping our workforce safe is our highest priority.

“Access to high quality, cost-effective PPE is vital to maintaining safety and allowing us to progress our mission to create a safe environment for future generations.

“I’m delighted Romar Innovate, a fantastic west Cumbrian SME, will providing these vital services across the UK, including at Sellafield.

Elected mayor of Copeland Mike Starkie said that it is welcome news as the borough prepares for a regeneration from the Town’s Fund.

“The news that this contract is going to be delivered in Cleator Moor is fantastic. It’s yet another boost for Cleator Moor. The good news is just flowing.”
