PLANS for a new fishing tackle shop in Whitehaven have been submitted to the council.
In a vision outlined in a planning application submitted to Copeland Borough Council, applicant Michael Waugh has outlined proposals for a retail unit which will form part of The Fish Hall on North Shore.
The unit is currently used for storage.
In planning documents, Mr Waugh said he believes the unit would be well placed for trade.
He said: “I feel this unit is in a prime position on the North Shore of the harbour to provide all the fishers who enjoy fishing off the piers the equipment and bait they need."
The applicant also noted that the opening of a store of this type in the area would potentially attract more anglers to the area, "not only to visit the shop, but to also fish off the piers and utilise the facilities within the town”.
