Craftsmen at the Priory will be ocntuing their hugely popular Sale and Exhibition this year at the Lanercost Priory, and have an interesting new addtion to the exhibit.

They said: "In addition to our very own Carolyn Marr, our core group ceramicist, we have a guest exhibitor from the north east, Meryl Lusher, who brings her own very unique style to the show.

"Seeing these in the flesh is even better, so make sure you stop by. Meryl Lusher: "My most recent work, the Kilim series, was made in response to the traditional designs and colours of Kilim rugs and other hand-woven fabrics.

"I am particularly fascinated by Kuba cloth which is a raffia-based fabric painstakingly woven and dyed by the Kuba people of central Africa.

"The cloth is further decorated and embellished with geometric shapes and traditional patterns which are so typical of central African art and make Kuba cloth so highly sort after."
