As the Rotary year comes to an end, members of the Rotary Club of Brampton & Longtown are pleased to be able to donate £1,200 to local charity, Safety Net which offers a free service supporting the recovery of those affected by rape, exploitation, sexual and domestic abuse across Cumbria, and is the chosen Charity of their President James Porter.

James says; “Despite a difficult year for everyone we are pleased to be able to donate this amount to Safety Net."

Funding for this donation has come from the proceeds of an on-line Murder Mystery event and more recently by members taking part in walking and cycling challenges.

Two members, Ian Forth & Peter Sedgwick, have completed their 300-mile, over 30 days, non-motorised challenge and Kevin Walsh is part way though his 50 mile a week challenge during June - several other members are walking a mile a day in June, Kevin says; ”It’s some years since I spent so much time in the saddle, but I’m really enjoying the experience and finding new routes in and around Carlisle, it’s great that we have been sponsored so generously by our friends, family and Rotarians.”

This week Kevin & Ian’s cycle rides took them to the Brampton Community Centre where Rotarians and Friends have been supporting the Covid 19 Vaccine rollout.
