Barrow primary school took part in a Zumbathon to raise money for two amazing charities.

Dane Ghyll Community school & Nursery took part in a Zumbathon to raise money for Manchester Children's Hospital and Ronald McDonald House after 5 year old pupil Isla, was diagnosed with Leukaemia in December last year.

The fun filled packed day consisted of a 2 hour Zumba session, a song session from former Dane Ghyll pupil to a surprise visit from the ice cream man who cooled them all down after they danced their socks off.

Isla’s Reception teacher Victoria Smithson described the day as wonderful and said she could not believe the support.

“Isla is so full of life and loves dancing, and is so energetic that we wanted to do something fun and active and came up with Zumba.

“Isla is such a strong girl and her family are amazing, they are so positive and have made a big impact on the school.

"We wanted to show our appreciation and give back to these two wonderful charities that have helped her and many other families through treatment to show how they are making life better.

So far the children have raised 5 and a half thousand with money still being counted.
