A year after opening, an eco-friendly design studio is setting its heights high as it looks to the future.

Set up on June 8 last year, Studio Walden is a sustainable eco-friendly design studio that produces works through renewable processes and materials.

After working with a range of clientele, from farmers to tattoo studios, the business has become completely carbon positive, paying to offset twice the annual carbon footprint of the business.

Founder Vincent Walden said: “There is a clear appetite for good work with a green mindset.

“In my first year of business I’ve managed to earn more money than anyone has ever paid me before, proving that the trust I had in myself was well founded.”

On June 3 last year, Vincent was made redundant from his graphic design job in the publishing industry while tinkering in the garage, assembling the hand-me-down mountain bike he’d received for his birthday the day before.

After a few days of job hunting, a serious flirtation with the idea of becoming a postman and two days of post-lockdown sunshine, a decision was made to follow a dream and start up Studio Walden.

The business was set up with the aim of tackling pollution in modern business and allowed for greater avenues of sustainability, starting with only providing printed works on recycled papers to becoming completely carbon positive.

Despite all the peaks and troughs throughout Vincent’s career, he’s not sour about the past, saying he’s grateful for all the knowledge and connections he’s made throughout it.
