Firefighters and an air ambulance were called to an incident in Workington town centre.
GNAAS were called at approximately 5pm on Friday to reports of a patient having sustained burns and arrived on scene at 5.15pm.
Two appliances from Workington fire station were called out at 4:57pm to reports of a fire in the town centre.
The incident is believed to be close to where the former Opera House is being demolished.
The patient was treated and assesed at the scene, and later airlifted by GNAAS from Workington Cricket Club at 6:10pm.
The casualty was airlifted to Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle in approximately thirty minutes.
