AROUND £80,000 of drugs were seized from a car on the M6 following a routine stop by police.
On May 1, Cumbria Roads Police stopped a vehicle on the M6 close to Southwaite Services. Following a search of the vehicle they uncovered £80,000 of cannabis.
The driver of the vehicle and the passenger, both in their early 20s, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
Both have since been release under investigation.
A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: “Officers conducted a routine traffic stop on the M6 Motorway northbound, near Southwaite Services at about 3.50pm on May 1.
“Following a search, officers found £80,000 of cannabis in the vehicle.
“The driver, a 21-year-old man, and the passenger, a 22-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class B drug.
“They have both been released under investigation.”
