THE Northern Premier Cricket League saw Kendal and Netherfield put on three impressive performances against their respected opponents.

Netherfield made it three wins from three after a relatively comfortable 5 wicket win against St Anne’s at Parkside Road.

St Anne’s offered some frustration for Netherfield during the first innings before Matt Jacksons stunning return of 6-38 saw the visitors bowled out for 127 off 46 overs.

The visitors frustrated in the second innings however Ben Barrows knock of 48 set his team up for the win before both Ritchie Forsyth and Finlay Richardson guided Netherfield to victory closing on 128-5 off 33 overs.

St Anne’s who won the toss and elected to bat made a slow but steady start after both Tom Higson and Andy Drake posted a stubborn first wicket stand of 40.

Netherfield seized control, when Matt Jackson claimed three quick wickets seeing off both Drake and Higson before bowling Luke Jardine for 0.

Nathan Bolus and Gurman Baines dug in for a fourth wicket stand of 52, as the visitors began to apply some pressure.

Ritchie Forsyth brought into the attack regained the home team’s momentum after he trapped Bolus LBW for 37, before Matt Jackson bowled Baines for 25.

Forsyth who is one of the clubs newest signings, went onto dismiss both Matthew Yeadon and Thomas Bradley, with Yeadon falling to a good catch by Josh Dixon while Bradley was stumped by Finlay Richardson.

Netherfield made light work of the lower order with Oli Wileman trapping Mitch Bolus LBW, before Matt Jackson went through the remaining batsmen after Harry Birkman and David Watson with St Annes all out for 127 off 46 overs.

In reply, Netherfield lost the early wicket of Josh Dixon, as they fell onto 5-1, Ben Barrow and Shrikant Mundhe regained control following a second wicket stand of 61 as the Field moved ahead onto 71.

St Annes offered a late fight back with Thomas Bradley seeing off both Shrikant Mundhe and Ben Barrow who fell for 48 after he dragged the ball onto the stumps.

The visitors were given further optimism after Matthew Yeadon picked up the wickets of both Brad Earl and Thomas Anderton.

However Finlay Richardson and Ritchie Forsyth edged the hosts to victory as they closed on 128-5 off 33 overs, with Forsyth closing undefeated on 15 while Richardson finished with 11.

Shrikant Mundhe and Finlay Richardson both impressed with the bat after Netherfield routed Fleetwood by 180 runs at Parkside Road.

Mundhe who was making his home debut for the club posted a stunning first innings knock of 102 while Richardson scored 59 after Netherfield declared on 280-4 off 48 overs.

Netherfield were in equally good form during the second innings after both Mundhe and Matt Jackson picked up identical figures of 3-26 before Fleetwood were bowled out for 107 off 36 overs.

Netherfield fresh from their dominating win at Lancaster won the toss and elected to bat on a perfect batting surface in the sun at Parkside Road.

However Netherfield made a slow start after Ben Barrow was trapped LBW by Alex Ryder, with the Field on 16-1.

Josh Dixon and Shrikant Mundhe dug deep as Netherfield propelled the score closer to 100, before Dixon fell for 26 after falling LBW to Will Reader.

However Brad Earl and Shrikant Mundhe pulled the game away from Fleetwood as Netherfield surged ahead with Earl posting a quick fire knock of 47 which included 4 fours and 2 sixes as the Field were in a comfortable position of 180.

Earl departed after being run out before Finlay Richardson and Mundhe piled on the runs with Netherfield racing on to 226.

Mundhe went onto score his first century for the club posting a fine 102, before falling to a catch by Will Reader from the bowling of Emilio Gay.

Finlay Richardson finished with 59 while James Bowman scored a quick fire 29 before Netherfield declared in the 48th over on a rampant 280-4.

In reply Netherfield made the perfect start after claiming the prize wicket of Emilio Gay who picked out Josh Dixon off the bowling of Shrikant Mundhe.

The Field continued to dominate with Mundhe trapping Adam Sharrocks LBW, while Matt Jackson saw off Ben Reader, Tom Wilson and Alex Ryder with Fleetwood in trouble on 18-5.

Fleetwoods Charlie Clark offered some brief rest bite after scoring 26, before being bowled by Ritchie Forsyth.

Oli Wileman saw off Jeremy Davies who was caught behind by Finlay Richardson, while Isaac Medhurst ran out Zack Coultas.

Mundhe brought back into the attack claimed his third wicket after he trapped James Gregson LBW before Lewis Richardson finished the game off after he trapped Jack Wilkinson LBW with Fleetwood all out for 107 off 36 overs.

The success of Netherfield was unfortunately not replicated by Kendal who came away with a loss against Blackpool.

Despite claiming early wickets, the team suffered a heavy seven wicket defeat at Shap Road.

The Auld Greys who gave a debut to Sri Lankan Professional Chalana De Silva initially made a strong start after racing onto 55-1.

However a stunning batting collapse saw Kendal collapse from 55 before being bowled out for 98 in just 36.5 overs with Matthew Grindley returning figures of 7-38.

Kendal claimed early wickets during the second innings where Blackpool struggled on 43-3, before Joshua Boyne’s undefeated 39 and Ciaran Johnsons undefeated 37 guided the visitors to victory in just 23 overs.

Kendal who won the toss and elected to bat made a good start after both Chris Miller and Darren Nightingale posted 31 for the first wicket with Darren Nightingale hitting out with 7 boundaries for a top score of 30.

However Blackpool made the breakthrough when Miller picked out Jake Muncaster off the delivery of Chris Baines.

Nightingale and Tom Aspinwall restored some control, as Kendal moved onto 55, however once Matthew Grindley trapped Nightingale LBW for 30, Kendal collapsed losing wickets in quick succession.

Grindley continued to dominate after the saw off Ben Phillips, Chalana De Silva and Saeed Bariwala while Matt Siddall Dismissed both Tom Aspinwall and William Price, with Aspinwall caught by Shivham Chauhan, while Price was trapped LBW.

Grindley finished with 7-38 seeing off Shane Hyland, Harry Lee and Matthew Park with Kendal all out for 98 off 36.5 overs

Kendal applied some early pressure onto the visitors at the start of the second innings when Kuldeep Singh trapped Tomas King LBW, before Da Silva picked up the wickets of both Sam Dutton and Shivam Chauhan, with Blackpool struggling on 43-3.

However Joshua Boyne’s undefeated 39 and Ciaran Johnsons undefeated 37 guided Blackpool to victory as they closed on 104-3 off 23 overs.

Kendal travel to play Morecambe, while Netherfield are away at Longridge this Saturday.
